Physical Education Foundation of India (PEFI) has organised the 3rd National Conference on Physical education and sports, at The Bharat Scouts and Guides, New Delhi on 16th and 17th of Dec'16.
The aim of the conference is to build a better structure for the education of sports, which includes mending the system at the grass root level to the level of achieving Olympic medals.
In a discussion with Just Play Sports, Dr A.K. Uppal, Director Conference, shared that PEFI has been working to develop a better foundation for education and scientific research in the field of Physical Education. It has been trying to promote Physical Education as a subject of equal importance as the other subjects taught in school. According to him, Physical Education is equally important for an all round development of the young and for India to produce better results in international events such as Olympics.
Dr A.K Bansal, Dronacharya Awardee, shared the other motives behind the conference, which was to spread the awareness regarding the health issues such as Diabetes and obesity which is growing in the Indian population due to lack of physical workout in their mundane lives.
The participants of the conference will be presenting their research articles over the issues such as spreading of obesity and diabetes, the betterment of Indian education system to promote Physical Education and awareness regarding the situation of doping amongst athletes.
Mr Pradeep Singh, Head-Sports, ONGC addressed the importance of involvement of big organisations like ONGC for the improvement of present infrastructure of Physical education. ONGC has been working along with PEFI at the grass root level to create a better foundation for talent in the country and also achieve the complete inclusion of sports.
