Rolling Wheels to Leh

 Trans-Himalayan Cycling Expedition 2017

After the huge success of GRR Rides “Rolling Wheels To Jaipur“ a 230 km Bicycle Ride with 40 Riders from Gurgaon to Jaipur on 14th May 2016 and “Rolling Wheels To Timber Trail“ a 300 km bicycle ride with 42 riders from New Delhi to Timber Trail on 16th Dec 2016 GRR is here again spreading the message of protecting the environment through the path of fitness with “Rolling Wheels to the Leh”. GRR is all set to bring a beautiful and courageous experience with the purpose to make our environment pollution free that would inspire generations to come.

The answer to your passion for biking is here. An initiative by GRR, "Rolling Wheels to Leh ", is a Trans-Himalayan Cycling Expedition from Manali to Leh. So Come Join the thrill, Challenge yourself and test the limits of your endurance and willpower.

This is one of the most difficult yet sought after routes by cyclists all around the world due to the fact that the route traverses through some of the world’s highest motorable passes and some spectacular upper Himalayan landscape.

  •  The Format of Ride:

The Expedition can be done by seasoned and amateur riders. The tour has 10 days of the total ride. Riders will be crossing 5 high altitude passes –– Rohtang-La 3979m. Baralacha-La -4,890 m, Naki-La– 4442mts, Lachung-La- 5065 & Tanglang-Laithe 2nd highest motorable pass @ 5328mts/ 17480 feet

This is a difficult terrain to ride and therefore we recommend this for riders who are physically fit to endure the challenges of riding in the high altitude with an approx of 35 to 80kms per day over 10 days of riding. The combination of climb-weather-altitude makes this a unique and fun challenge.

  • How to Reach

The start point of the event is Manali. The nearest Airport is Bhuntar (Kullu) 50 kms and the nearest railhead is at Chandigarh (350 km)/ New Delhi (585kms). You can take the overnight Volvo bus from either Delhi or Chandigarh.

  • Weather

June & July are Pre-monsoon months in Leh and also the best time to visit. The days are hot with temperatures ranging from 20-30deg and nights are cold at 10-12 deg

  • Day 5 Wed,26 Jul 2017 - ZingzingBar to Sarchu (50 km 4255 meters)

Yet another climb to Baralachala {4918m). It’s not easy as the climb is packed with loose gravel, rocks and no vegetation at all. This silent campsite is surrounded by a grand view that you can check out on your foot or bike.
