“To build a long-term plan and to provide these budding swimmers exposure of international level of competitions, we have to ensure that the kids should get to participate in such kind of events”, said the Head Coach Partha Pratim Majumder, in an interaction with JPS. Varun Patel and Bastab Tapan are two swimmers who have a prior international exposure, while the rest 5 of the swimmers are participating for the 1st time in any international event.
To reach to a stage of getting qualified for any international event, these children had to put in numerous hours of practice every day. Managing their studies along with their passion for swimming is a challenge but most of them shared that they find it easy to concentrate on their studies after a good swimming practice. Every time they enter the pool they feel refreshed. Sharing the common goal to popularize swimming in India as a professional sport, these young swimmers also enjoy the support of their school and parents.
While expressing the future prospects of these 7 swimmers, Coach Partha also mentioned that it’s important for them to clock good timings to get qualified for World and Asian Championships. Sports Authority of India National Swimming Academy also plans to send few of the best swimmers to Australia and Europe to get trained with best of the clubs in the world.
JPS is delighted to have met these aspiring swimmers from SAI National Swimming Academy and we hope they bring laurels for their self as well as for the country.
